Finally, the design you have wanted for months has become a reality. You and your tattoo artist That’s me) spent hours creating this work of art, but what’s next? Here’s what you need to know – Trust me, I’ve been there, done that. So this advice is pretty solid. Seriously. Stick to it.
How to care for your tattoo
- Dressing should ideally be left on overnight but also no less than 6hrs
- Remove dressing and wash the tattoo thoroughly with warm water and soap (make sure you wash your hands before cleaning your tattoo
- Make sure you wash until all the plasma (gooey,slimy feeling) is removed
- Rinse with cold water and PAT dry with a clean,dry towel, we repeat, PAT DRY. DO NOT WIPE your tattoo dry
- Once dry, apply a thin layer of recommended lotion or balm (chat to your tattoo artist about the best product to use, every artist has their own tips, tricks, and… tattoos
- Make sure you wash your tattoo as seen in the steps above, every 4 to 6 hours, applying balm or lotion after each time
- Keep following these steps until all the scabs are gone – this is typically after 4 to 7 days and will depend on the size of your tattoo
- Once the scabs have come off, wash as per usual and switch to a ‘light’ lotion or moisturiser
- Use sunblock once your tattoo is healed
